Important Update on Classes 21/10/19
21st October 2019
Dear Parents and Carers
By way of an update, we still have four classrooms that we are treating as ‘out of bounds’ for normal activity as we anticipate further inspections and results of tests. The Year Reception classroom and outdoor area together with the year 5 and 6 classrooms remain unaffected, but classes 1, 2, 3 and 4 are still under scrutiny; while we await further visits from the Local Authority professionals to assess the state of those four classrooms, we have taken the decision to educate some of the children off-site from tomorrow, so that we can get all of our children back into a learning environment.
So, from tomorrow, Tuesday 22nd October and until further notice:
Breakfast and After School Clubs
Breakfast and After School Clubs will operate from the school hall. Please drop off and pick up from the fire exit door leading from the hall into the junior playground.
Year 5 and Year 6
Year 5 and 6 children should line up as normal in the junior playground. They will be registered as usual at 08:50 and then will be walking to Culcheth Primary School for the day accompanied by their regular class teachers plus several other staff members. All Year 5 and 6 children will need to bring a packed lunch and a named water bottle, plus an additional snack if required as there will be no toast provided at morning break. They should bring only what they need in a small rucksack or other bag that is easy for them to carry. If you need to get messages to your children you should still contact Mrs Henthorn in the Twiss Green school office. Please do not contact Culcheth Primary School directly. If you need to collect your child from school during the day to attend an appointment, please let the Twiss Green school office and the class teacher know as soon as possible; teacher email addresses can be found on the school website.
They will return to school before 3:15pm for you to collect them as normal from the junior playground.
Year 3 and Year 4
Year 3 and 4 children should line up as normal in the junior playground. They will be brought into school as usual by 8:50am and then will be registered and taught in the year 5 and 6 classrooms for the remainder of the day. They will be dismissed onto the junior playground at the end of the school day. Please stand well back from the exits to allow staff members to have as clear a view as possible of the adults coming to collect children, and to allow easier exit from the building.
Year 1 and Year 2
Year 1 and Year 2 children should line up as normal on the infant playground. They will be brought into school by 9:00am and will be registered and taught in the school hall for the remainder of the day. They will be dismissed from the Reception class exit door at the end of the school day. Please stand well back from the exits to allow staff members to have as clear a view as possible of the adults coming to collect children, and to allow easier exit from the building.
Reception class children are largely unaffected by these contingency plans and all aspects of their day will be as normal except that they will be dismissed from the fire exit door of the ‘outdoor classroom’: parents and carers should please wait by the butterfly garden.
I have been overwhelmed with support from parents today and I am truly grateful for the chocolates and flowers, for the offers of practical help, for the telephone calls made to the local authority and for the help and advice from several parents who have connections with the building industry; all have made this a little easier to cope with today and have even galvanised the Local Authority into action where my pleas had previously gone unheeded. We recognise how lucky we are to have such supportive parents.
Looking forward to seeing your children back at school tomorrow and, as before, assuring you of our best attention at all times.
