Year 5 Home Learning - Note to parents
I hope that you are all well and enjoying your learning at home together - as and when you can and there is no expectation that your child will complete every task. The suggestions on the Home Learning sheet are activities that will enable the children to revise and consolidate the learning we have covered so far. I have set up two class blogs on Purple Mash so that we can safely share some of the more creative things we are doing at home - whether that be Lego building, writing jokes, painting, dancing or learning a new language (Estoy tratando de mejorar mi espanol)! If you have any concerns about the tasks set or problems you wish to discuss please don't hestitate to contact me firstname.lastname@example.org

Hello everyone! I hope that you are all well and enjoying your learning at home. If you need any help or advice with the work set remember that you can email me (email@example.com) as I am more than happy to help. Below are a number of on-line resources that you can access but, in addition, I have also added Twinkl Spring Maths and English booklets with answers if you wanted to use those. Don't forget you can also enter the RRSA Mascot competition (see RRSA page for details).
White Rose Daily Maths lessons - These are absolutely brilliant! See the letter below explaining how to access a daily maths tutorial and worksheet.
Numeracy Workout - Choose activities that you use skills and knowledge that you need to practise.
My Maths - There are a number of tasks set for you to access throughout the week.
Times Table Rock Stars - I have added extra challenging tables for those of you who are already confident with you tables. In addition, improving your speed will set you in good stead for all the fractions, decimals and percentage work we have to come!
**Mrs Kelly's Reasoning Club - For those of you wanting an additional mathematical challenge, I will add a tricky reasoning challenge to the resources at the bottom of the page!**
Reading Plus - I have been so impressed with the number of you that have been accessing one book each day. Well done and keep it up! If anyone has had any problems logging in please let me know.
Daily Reading - I have set up a post on our class blog so that you can let me know which books you are reading and can recommend them to your friends. Reading raffle tokens will be awarded for any reviews. You could also post photos of completed reading challenges on here.
Writing - Go to Pobble 365 and complete the daily work for each picture on there. Again I have set up a Pobble post on the blog so that you can share writing. I have already been sent some fantastic work and have thoroughly enjoyed reading it!
English Poetry challenge - See the PowerPoint in resources for instructions and examples. Use the next few weeks to learn a poem and video your performance!
Spelling - Continue to learn the Y5/6 statutory spellings (see list below) and practise the Y5 spelling rules using Spelling Frame (no login required)
SPAG - There are a number of activities set on Spag.com for you to access in the week ahead.
Science - I have added two Science tasks for this week in the resources below. Your activity is to research the life and work of David Attenborough - you could even record your own wildlife documentary! Perhaps you could also watch some of his television programmes https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/group/p06m42d9
Geography - Continue to consolidate your Americas place and location knowledge by playing games on this website - https://world-geography-games.com/americas.html maybe you can post your highest scores on our class blog!
PE - If you have been taking part in this week's Joe Wick's PE sessions no doubt you are aching just I am! These are a great start to the day at 9am Monday to Friday. I know that some of you have also been using Cosmic Kids Yoga for mindfulness and relaxation.
Computing - There are several '2 do' activities set on Purple Mash; I have really enjoyed marking these this week.
Art - It is really important to take time to be creative and I have come across some fantastic resources that you can use. I know how much you all love art and working in your sketchbooks and so the link below should give you plenty to work on. I have also added a Zentangle Challenges to the resources section which looks like lots of fun. It would be lovely if you could add examples to the 'Y5 Art Gallery' on our class blog!
Gomersal School Home Activities - Amazing ideas and artistic inspiration
Don't forget to use GoNoodle to stay active and mindful whilst at home. Picture News is also a useful resources and this week the focus is 'Staying Positive' (see resources below).
