Reception Curriculum

Curriculum
At Twiss Green Community Primary School, our Reception curriculum is built around key texts that inspire curiosity and foster a love of reading. Children are introduced to rich new vocabulary and learn through play, exploring ideas and developing skills in a fun and engaging environment. Phonics and maths are taught daily, giving children strong foundations in early literacy and numeracy. Our classroom provision is carefully enhanced with challenges and play-based activities designed to extend learning and promote independence.
Below you can find our Reception curriculum map which gives a detailed outline of the exciting things your child will be learning during their time in Reception class.

Phonics at Twiss Green
Phonics is an amazing process which teaches children to make connections between the sounds of our spoken words and the letters that are used to write them down. It is a crucial part of learning which underpins how children learn to read and write.

Phonics is taught every day in Reception. Please click on the picture below which will direct you to our phonics page to find out all about Little Wandle Letters and Sounds Revised - our systematic synthetic phonics programme (SSP).
If you have any questions please pop in and speak to a member of staff.
