Welcome to Year One!

Class Teachers - Mrs Waldron

Teaching Assistant - Miss Taylor

We are really looking forward to welcoming you back to school and to your new class in Year 1.

We will enjoy learning through play and structured tasks as a whole class with the teacher, in small groups with an adult and we enjoy learning in the 'Challenge Areas', which are similar to the Continuous Provision Areas set up in EYFS. Our 'Challenge Areas' support independent learning and collaboration with our friends. They are linked to the beginning of our journey on the National Curriculum.

This half term we will be basing our Enlgish Learning on this lovely book Hermelin the Detective Mouse by Mini Grey.

Look out for budding detectives around your house! We will be writing our own detective stories and letters in role alongside lots of other writing, grammar and spelling activities.
PE
Monday & Tuesday - please remember to come into school in your PE kit on these days.

Snack
We have weekly government funded fruit deliveries and each child in EYFS and KS1 may have piece of fruit at morning break.

Water Bottles
Please bring a clearly named water bottle to school each day.

Homework
The children will continue to bring homework home on a Friday to be returned the following Wednesday. Homework will include spellings to learn, handwriting to practise, a maths task based on class learning and reading books.

Collins Big Cat - you will use your logins to read an e-book that is allocated to you each week which we will also be reading in small groups in class that week. The 3 weekly reading sessions will focus on decoding, prosody and comprehension.
